Species: Bigleaf Maple (acer macrophyllum)/Dimensions: 36.5 x 42.2cm

Dessie found this maple leaf in the forests of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She had traveled from Alberta specifically to find the fabled leaves, which are the largest found among the maples and thrive in the moist climate of the island. This was the biggest of those leaves collected. Hidden among the beautiful form and veins was a serene elf king. The earthy portrait evokes a sense of fantasy and magic, that takes us back to a time when we were children who longed to find a fairy in the forest. It may just be a matter of using the right sort of eye.
